Informatics and Computer Science

The Department of Informatics and Computer Science formed in 2013 from the consolidation of the Computer Information Systems department in the College of Business and the Computer Science program in the College of Science and Engineering. The new department is housed jointly within the College of Business and the College of Science and Engineering.

Informatics is the study of information and information systems in a context. Business and health care are the contexts in which our informatics majors are focused. Computer Science is primarily concerned with the development of systems software and hardware. The degrees currently offered by the department include:

The Informatics and Computer Science Department is closely affiliated with the Informatics Research Institute, which offers the NIATEC Information Assurance Program.
