MBA Program - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still have a job and attend MBA classes?

Yes. Most of our students do have a job while getting their degree. We also have students that are full time students. If working around 40 hours a week we recommend not taking more than 2 classes a semester. Full time students should take 3 to 5 classes a semester.

Can I waive MBA I courses based on work experience?

Work experience is not a basis for waiving MBA-I course work; however, students with substantial work experience may demonstrate competence in a particular field through examination and approval from professors.

Do I need a degree in Business to apply for the program?

No. Our program is designed such that students from any degree background may apply and succeed.

Do I send all my information when I turn in my application?

How do I apply to the program?

How do I register to take the GMAT?

Registration for the GMAT is done on-line at The cost of the test is $250 and must be paid at the time of registration. The nearest testing center is in Pocatello.

How long does it take to get my MBA?

The length it takes to get an MBA depends on 1) the students undergraduate degree and 2) if the students attend the MBA program part or full time. For students with a business degree the duration is 1 to 2 years. For students with a non business degree the duration is 2 to 4 years.

Is the GMAT required?

In most instances, the GMAT is required. However, individuals holding a current master's degree from a regionally accredited institution may meet minimum requirements and be considered for admission if they meet the Graduate School requirements regarding GRE scores in which case the student is not required to take the GMAT for admission.

What are the traveling requirements?

Most students can complete a traditional MBA degree at either the Pocatello or Idaho Falls campus without travel. MBA I classes are offered online. Check the class schedule for online electives. Elective classes for any emphasis except management and traditional are only offered at the Pocatello campus.

What classes should I take before entering the program?

It is encouraged that students take College Algebra (MATH 1143) and Business Statistics (MGT 2216) but these can be taken early in your program of study.

When do the letters of recomendation need to be in?

Letters of recommendation need to be in by the application deadline for the semester that you intend to enroll in. For the admission deadlines please see the Admissions section of our webpage.

Who should my letters of recommendation be from?

Your letters of recommendation should be from individuals who could express your ability to be succeed in the graduate program. These individuals can be anyone you feel will represent you the best. However, we do ask that you not use family members for these letters.

How do I prep for the GMAT?

There are several books available for studying for the GMAT. You can also download several practice exams from to get a feel for what the exam will be like.
