Computer Based Testing

ACT eCompass Placement Testing:

This test allows for placement in ISU Math, English and Foreign Language classes. Testing is available 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday (8am to 2pm during the summer), on a walk-in basis. There is a $12 (cash or check) per test, sitting fee for Math and English. Foreign Language placement tests are free of charge. The COMPASS test may be taken up to three (3) times per semester. Additional attempts may be made starting the Monday after Finals Week. TWO Photo IDs are required. One ID must be a Bengal ID and test takers must provide their Bengal ID number.

Compass Placement Testing is offered in Graveley Hall South, 2nd Floor Testing Center, Room 251. The Compass test is also offered at the Idaho Falls campus.

Of note, we will stop offering the Compass Placement Testing on November 30th, 2016. We are excited to announce that the ALEKS math placement test will take it's place.

GED 2014

The 2014-version of the GED is computer-based and includes four content area tests - Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA), Mathematical Reasoning (Math), Science, and Social Studies. The test is available in the U.S. in the English-language and Spanish-language editions.

Testing candidates between the ages of 16 and 18 must complete the Youth Waiver Request Form and turn it into the testing center. It is available here:

GED Ready: The Official Practice Test: Available in adult education programs and at home, GED Ready is the only practice test designed to tell test-takers if they're ready for the real thing. Test-takers get first-hand experience answering computer-based test questions written and developed by the test creators and they receive an Enhanced Score Report every time they test.

How to request a transcript if you completed the 2002 GED version (paper-based): Our testing center no longer has access to test-taker's scores and we can no longer print transcripts. The only way you can receive your official transcript is through the State's Professional Technical Education department. Request your transcript online by visiting:

We are an authorized Prometric Test Center

As a Prometric Test Center some of the over 300 tests now available are the:

GRE: Graduate Record Examination, required by most departments for admittance to graduate school. For test prep software go to GRE Prep Download..

PRAXIS I: Required for admittance to the College of Education, the Pre-Professional Skills Test evaluates basic reading, writing, and math skills. To register for PRAXIS testing call 1-(800) 853-6773.

PANCE/PANRE: License or recertification for those that have graduated the Physician Assistant program.

DAT: Dental Admission Test for those applying to Dental Schools.

MCAT: Medical College Admission Test for those applying to Medical Schools, only available on national testing days.

NASD/FINRA: Licensing and recertification for financial advisors and brokers.

CPA: Licensure for Certified Public Accountants.

Prometric Tests can not be scheduled through the testing center, they can only be scheduled at or by calling 1-800-967-1100. Test Preparation and study materials may be available through or the Prometric website.

As an official Prometric Testing Center, we are capable of administering any computer based test that is offered through ETS/Prometric. Please contact our office for more information or visit the Educational Testing Service or web site.

We are pleased to announce that the Miller Analogy Test (MAT) is now available in Idaho Falls.

The Miller Analogies Test is a computer based test and is a test taken by graduate students. The candidates usually have the option of taking the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), or the GRE (See Prometric-computer based testing above).

Score results are available immediately following the test. The MAT is available Monday-Friday before 2pm. In order to schedule the candidate must pre-pay the $115 sitting fee. This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. The sitting fee may be paid on the third floor, of Graveley Hall, room 351. Payment options include cash or personal check. Please call the Testing Center to check availability or to set up an appointment (282-4907).
