9/24:  Homecoming

9/26:  Bannock County Fluoride Varnish Clinic, 1:30-4:00 p.m.

Idaho Parents Unlimited, Inc.:  This organization exists to enhance the quality of life for Idahoans with disabilities and their families.  To see the May newsletter, go to http://ipulidaho.org/resourceattachments/May%202016%20Newsletter.pdf

Fluoride Varnish Clinic:  No appointment is needed for this clinic.  For Bannock County, it's held at 1901 Alvin Ricken Drive.  See our bulletin board near the front desk for clinics in other counties.

New Meal Patterns:  The CACFP has been working on these for years, and they have finally been published.  CACFP centers and day care homes must comply with the new patterns by 10/1/17.  If you'd like to view them, go to http://sde.idaho.gov/cnp/cacfp/ then scroll to meal patterns, then click on Final Meal Pattern

Fall Spaces Are Available:  Call Beccah at 282-2769 for more information or stop by the front desk and pick up a packet.  Fall session (new contract year) starts 8/22/16.  No spaces currently available in the infant rooms.

Withdrawal from the ELC:  Remember that you must give 15 days' written notice of withdrawal from the ELC.  You will be billed for your contracted schedule for those two weeks regardless of whether or not your child actually attends.

Employment:  The ELC is always looking for great people!  Call Donna at 282-4347 for more information, or come to our front desk and ask for an employment application (if you're interested in a part-time position).  All must have or get a City of Pocatello child care license, and all who work directly with children must be (or become) currently certified in pediatric first aid and CPR.  Bus drivers must also have (or get) a CDL with passenger endorsement.  If you will be an ECCE student here at ISU this fall and need a practicum site, apply now for fall!  We might not have enough paid positions for all those who need a site.

STAR Rating for the ELC:  The Pocatello site is verified at Step 3 in the "Steps to Quality" program of IdahoSTARS.  That means that we are STAR-rated in their updated quality rating and improvement system.  If you would like to know more about this, go to idahostars.org and look for "Steps to Quality."

ICCP:  If you receive help with child care fees from the ICCP, don't forget that we need a new Monthly Dependent Care Charges (MDCC) form from you each semester and each time you change your schedule.

Language and Literacy:  Here's a link to a thought-provoking video about talking with our children:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2dLPFaehV0&feature=em%E2%80%90share_video_user

KidsHealth.org is a great site for all kinds of information for parents, kids and teachers.  They also have a weekly e-newsletter for which you can sign up at  http://kidshealth.org

Children and Play:  The ELC uses a develomentally appropriate, play-based curriculum for infants through preschool-age children.  Here's a good article about the importance of play:  http://families.naeyc.org/learning-and-development/child-development/10-things-every-parent-should-know-about-play

WIC services available on campus:  WIC services are available at the University Health Center on the 4th Thursday of each month from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  Go to the second floor.  No appointment is necessary.
