Years Teaching:
20 years

BS in Chemistry and Mathematics

Graduate Partner:
Rita Jones

Special Accomplishments/Interests:
I also wrote a Partners in Science Grant this fall and was awarded that $15,000 grant as well in April 2007. I will be doing organic chemistry research this summer at ISU with Dr. Lyle Castle.

My interests include my husband of 20 years, Scott, and our two daughters, Shelby, 16 and Sydney, 13. We all love to travel together, especially to Mexico! My husband and I are avid runners just for exercise (no marathons or competitions for me!). I love the sun and I love being outside running, bike riding, swimming, working in my flower gardens, etc.

How will you continue to integrate an aspect of GK-12 and your partnership with graduate students into your teaching, philosophy, etc.?
I intend to use Rita with my AP Chemistry class. I am going from 12 students the past few years to 26 students next year! Iím hoping she can help with the lengthy labs that we do in AP Chem. Also, just another set of eyes and ears to help all those ambitious, eager students will definitely be a huge help!

How has the GK-12 experience changed you, and how has your participation changed the GK-12 project?
