Sara Owen

Hometown: Bryant, Arkansas
BS: Biology, University of Central Arkansas
MNS: Idaho State University

Sara became interested in stream ecology as an undergraduate working as "grunt" labor for graduate students at UCA. Her own undergraduate project looked at the effects of drought on stream invertebrate communities. Sara completed her Masters Degree at ISU working with Doc Minshall, and went on to work as a lecturer in the department and continue to assist in the Stream Ecology Center. After leaving ISU, she worked as an environmental consultant on a range of projects in the southeastern U.S. before moving back west to Helena, Montana, where she continues such work. Aquatic invertebrate taxonomy is one of Sara's passions (she especially loves Tardigrades!).
