The of Idaho State University Eli M. Oboler Library is exhibiting the artwork Catherine Reinhardt, graduate student in the ISU Department of Art, through May 31.
Reinhardt, who will graduate in May, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Auburn University in Alabama and a master's degree in teaching from the University of Virginia. A native of Alabama, Reinhardt lives in Pocatello with her husband and son. (more…)
Idaho State University researcher Kelchner helps solve 5,000-year-old mystery: team deciphers the Bamboo family tree
For more than 5,000 years, people have studied bamboo: its uses, growth forms, unusual flowering cycles, and its relationship to other plant groups.
Until now, the relationships among the major lineages of bamboos, called "tribes," were not known with any certainty. But a new paper in the journal Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution reveals the ancient story of bamboo using DNA analysis and provides the most convincing evidence to date of their long evolutionary history. Idaho State University to present renowned cellist Carlos Prieto in special concert May 9 at Stephens Performing Arts Center
Idaho State University and the Consulate of Mexico in Boise will present a concert by one of the most respected cellists in the world, Carlos Prieto, at 7 p.m. May 9 in the Stephens Performing Arts Center's Jensen Grand Concert Hall.
Prieto, Mexican-born and MIT-educated, regularly premiers works composed especially for him by Latin American, North American and European composers. He has received public acclaim and won excellent reviews for his performances throughout the United States, Europe, Russia, China, India and Latin America. (more…)

One will receive the 2013 ISU Distinguished Teacher Award to be announced at the reception.

Idaho State University and the ISU Alumni Association proudly announce the 2013 Outstanding Student Award recipients who will be honored at Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 11, in Holt Arena.
The 12 Outstanding Student Awards are presented to recognize outstanding graduating seniors who have excelled in their programs, their extracurricular activities and have epitomized ISU's outstanding student body. Students receiving these prestigious awards exhibit a readiness to graduate, high academic achievement, above-average dedication to academic and professional goals and involvement in professional societies. Work experience and community service are also considered.
