Emergency exercises planned at CAES Building in Idaho Falls on April 23; exercises not open to the public

An emergency training exercise presenting a staged "campus violence incident" will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 23 at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) in Idaho Falls.

This exercise is not open to the public, but organizers wanted to announce it so people will not be alarmed by the sight of emergency vehicles and personnel engaged in the exercise at this time. (more…)

Idaho State University purchasing agent Dan Anthony retires after 42 years of service

If you've ever sat in a chair at the Idaho State University Stephens Performing Arts Center or Rendezvous Complex, ridden in an ISU vehicle, or stood by a desk in an ISU office in Pocatello, Idaho Falls or Meridian, you've encountered the work of Dan Anthony.

Anthony, about as died-in-the-wool, orange-and-black Bengal as a you can meet, is retiring as a purchasing agent April 19 after nearly 42 years of working service to ISU. During that time he has bought millions of dollars of commodities for ISU Purchasing Services, which currently processes more than 3,000 purchase orders annually totaling in excess of $20 million. ‘…Science Fiction Films by Native American Filmmakers’ topic of ISU presentation April 19

"Incarcerated Women: Pathways and the Criminal Justice System Response" is the topic of an Idaho State University Humanities Café at 6 p.m. April 18 at the Portneuf Valley Brewery located on First Avenue in Pocatello.

Idaho State University to present renowned cellist Carlos Prieto in special concert May 9 at Stephens Performing Arts Center

Idaho State University and the Consulate of Mexico in Boise will present a concert by one of the most respected cellists in the world, Carlos Prieto, at 7 p.m. May 9 in the Stephens Performing Arts Center's Jensen Grand Concert Hall.

Prieto, Mexican-born and MIT-educated, regularly premiers works composed especially for him by Latin American, North American and European composers. He has received public acclaim and won excellent reviews for his performances throughout the United States, Europe, Russia, China, India and Latin America. (more…)

Five Idaho State University faculty honored as 2013 Outstanding Master Teachers

Five Idaho State University faculty members have received 2013 Outstanding Master Teacher awards and will be honored at a reception on April 24.

One will receive the 2013 ISU Distinguished Teacher Award to be announced at the reception.

Receiving Master Teacher awards are; Jeff Brockett, associate professor and program director for the Doctor of Audiology program in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders; Paul Link, professor in the Department of Geological Sciences; Diana Livingston-Friedley, professor of voice in the Department of Music; Donna Lybecker, associate professor in the Department of Political Science and Rosemary J. Smith, professor, Department of Biological Sciences. (more…)

Five Idaho State University faculty receive 2013 Outstanding Public Service Awards

Five Idaho State University faculty have received 2013 Outstanding Public Service Awards and will be honored at a reception on April 24.

One will receive the 2013 ISU Distinguished Public Service Award to be announced at the reception.

Receiving 2013 Outstanding Public Service Awards are Scott Anderson, professor of music; Glenda Carr, clinical assistant professor with the College of Pharmacy; Kevin W. Cleveland, associate professor in the Pharmacy Practice Department at the College of Pharmacy; Cathy Kriloff, professor of mathematics; and Kevin Marsh, associate professor and chair of the history department.
