Idaho State University Theatre and Dance to present world premiere of contemporary opera in Pocatello then California
The world premiere of "Double Blind Sided," a contemporary opera inspired, in part, by Franz Kafka's "The Trial" and Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," will be performed at 7:30 p.m. May 22-25 in the Rogers Black Box Theatre in the Stephens Performing Arts Center.
There will be an additional matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25. A post-performance panel discussion with the composer, librettist and directors will be held Wednesday and Thursday, May 22-23. (more…)

The world premiere of "Double Blind Sided," a contemporary opera inspired, in part, by Franz Kafka's "The Trial" and Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," will be presented 7:30 p.m., Wednesday – Saturday, May 22-25, with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, May 25, in the Idaho State University Stephens Performing Arts Center's Rogers Black Box Theatre .
A post-performance panel discussion with the composer, librettist and directors will be held Wednesday and Thursday. Admission is by donation. Idaho State-Civic Symphony to present final concert of season on April 26; guest conductor Heuser to present ‘Brahms and the Romantics’
The final concert of the Idaho State-Civic Symphony's 2012-2013 season will be held on Friday, April 26, in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall of the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Idaho State University to present renowned cellist Carlos Prieto in special concert May 9 at Stephens Performing Arts Center
Idaho State University and the Consulate of Mexico in Boise will present a concert by one of the most respected cellists in the world, Carlos Prieto, at 7 p.m. May 9 in the Stephens Performing Arts Center's Jensen Grand Concert Hall.
Prieto, Mexican-born and MIT-educated, regularly premiers works composed especially for him by Latin American, North American and European composers. He has received public acclaim and won excellent reviews for his performances throughout the United States, Europe, Russia, China, India and Latin America. (more…)

Idaho State University 2013 Outstanding Student Award recipients announced
Idaho State University and the ISU Alumni Association proudly announce the 2013 Outstanding Student Award recipients who will be honored at Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 11, in Holt Arena.
The 12 Outstanding Student Awards are presented to recognize outstanding graduating seniors who have excelled in their programs, their extracurricular activities and have epitomized ISU's outstanding student body. Students receiving these prestigious awards exhibit a readiness to graduate, high academic achievement, above-average dedication to academic and professional goals and involvement in professional societies. Work experience and community service are also considered.
The Outstanding Student Award recipients will be honored at a reception April 19 in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center. (more…)
