A Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition “Seek No … Feel No … Fear No …” by Idaho State University graduate student and associate lecturer Dr. Thomas Pfister is scheduled from Feb. 21 to March 2 in the Davis Gallery on the lower level of the ISU Fine Arts Building.

‘Viva La Poky’ fundraiser slated in Pocatello Feb. 24

Black Awareness Month discussions set at ISU through February

ISU choirs to perform in Jensen Hall Feb. 23

National Women’s Art Show in March to include auction of Native American art, signed Leibovitz photo

The auctioning of a print by world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz and the work of Native American artists will be among the highlights of the fifth annual  “Celebrating Women: Their Strength and Vision” National Women’s Art Show at Idaho State University March 19-31.

Native American bead workThe exhibit, hosted by the ISU Women’s Studies Program, will be held in the Transition and Mind’s Eye galleries located on the lower level of the Pond Student Union Building on the ISU Pocatello campus, and the Seasonal Gallery in the Idaho Museum of Natural History, also on the Pocatello campus.

Along with the art show, a silent auction featuring pieces by well-known local and national artists, including an original photographic print of Blythe Danner and Gwyneth Paltrow autographed and donated by Leibovitz, will help raise funds for Women’s Studies scholarships and College of Arts and Sciences programs.

Low-income kids to receive free dental care Feb. 23-24

On Feb. 23 and 24 an estimated 100 children from local low-income families will receive dental services at no cost ranging from general dental exams and professional fluoride applications, to fillings as part of the national Give Kids a Smile Day.

Training for mental-health caregivers set April 18

The Idaho State University Institute of Rural Health will offer the “Better Todays, Better Tomorrows” statewide training on the topic of mental health for school-age children for caregivers and gatekeepers. Sessions end April 18.

ISU geoscientist to present bird’s-eye views of Idaho’s landscapes Feb. 12

Pharmacy spaghetti feed, auction Feb. 23 to benefit ‘Make-A-Wish’ youth

In addition to long hours spent in classrooms, pharmacy laboratories and studying, ISU College of Pharmacy students find time to assist area residents each year through fundraising events.
Student members of the ISU Professional Pharmacy Student Alliance (PPSA) will hold the 14th annual Spaghetti Feed and Auction at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, in the Pond Student Union Building Ballroom. More than 30 percent of their $20,000 goal will benefit a Pocatello youth through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho. The remainder will benefit PPSA professional development and community health-promotion projects.

Status of world’s women and children to be Frank Church Symposium focus
