President Vailas to discuss partnerships at April 26 school-superintendents forum

Scholars to address post-9/11 presidential powers

Five nationally renowned presidential scholars will lecture at Idaho State University on April 26 as part of a symposium, “Presidential Power and the Challenge to Democracy.”

The symposium, sponsored by the Associated Students of ISU and Pi Sigma Alpha, the political-science honor society, will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Wood River Room of the ISU Pond Student Union Building. (more…)

Student art exhibit set in Davis Gallery through May 4

Idaho State University will display the art of ISU seniors Ailaine Higgins, Lonalee Hamlin Jr. and Lucas Siems in the John B. Davis Gallery from April 24 to May 4.

An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. April 23. Davis Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is located on the bottom floor of the Fine Arts Building. (more…)

ISU faculty earn 2007 research awards

Nancy Huntly, PhD, Idaho State University professor of ecology and biology, has been named ISU's Distinguished Researcher for 2007. She will receive the award at Commencement May 12. Three additional Idaho State University faculty have received 2007 Outstanding Researcher Awards.

The 2007 Outstanding Researchers are David G. Adler, PhD, political science; Paul K. Link, PhD, geosciences; and Susan Swetnam, PhD, English. (more…)

College of Pharmacy receives $5.25 million gift from Utah’s ALSAM Foundation

Idaho State University’s College of Pharmacy has received a $5 million gift from The ALSAM Foundation to acquire more teaching and research space in the Treasure Valley and an additional $250,000 in pharmacy scholarships for minority students, ISU and ALSAM officials announced today.Skaggs

“With tremendous pride, I accept these gifts on behalf of Idaho State University and the College of Pharmacy,” said ISU President Arthur C. Vailas, PhD. “These generous donations from The ALSAM Foundation will serve as a catalyst in our efforts to provide quality education and fulfill our commitment to expand health-care education programs in the Treasure Valley.”

The ALSAM Foundation, a charitable organization based in Salt Lake City, is named in honor of L.S. “Sam” Skaggs and wife, Aline, who both have deep roots in Idaho. The foundation supports a variety of causes and organizations, and is committed to improving the lives of people around the world. (more…)

Public forum set April 24 to address Rendezvous, campus parking issues

To address concerns about parking at the new ISU Rendezvous complex and on campus generally, Facilities Planning will host a public forum and discussion April 24 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the PSUB dining area.

The objective of the public forum is to inform, involve and articulate problems or inconveniences with respect to on- and off- campus parking. (more…)
