ISU’s Institute of Rural Health works to reduce suicide in Idaho
The Idaho State University Institute of Rural Health is working to reduce suicide rates in Idaho, which consistently ranks among the top 10 states for its rate of suicides.
Factors thought to be involved in high suicide rates in the Intermountain West include isolation, access to services, an independent culture, access to lethal means and stigma concerning help-seeking. (more…)
ISU receives more than $1.4 million for five research projects
Idaho State University received more than $1.4 million in grants in a one-week period in July for five different research projects.
“Together, the new grants are indicators of ISU excellence in energy, health care, and scientific research,” said Pamela Crowell, Ph.D., ISU Vice President for Research. “Through these projects, our faculty and students will make new discoveries that will have impact across the state and the globe.” (more…)
ISU professor Hatzenbuehler on C-SPAN 2 on Aug. 2
Idaho State University professor Ron Hatzenbuehler, Ph.D., will be featured on C-SPAN 2’s television program “TV Bus” at 8:49 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2.
He will be discussing the book he authored “I Tremble for My Country: Thomas Jefferson and the Virginia Gentry.” This six-minute segment was filmed last August when the C-SPAN 2’s Book TV Bus visited the Idaho State University campus. (more…)
