ISU researchers developing 3-D virtual archaeological Web site
An online, three-dimensional archaeological collection of Arctic animal bones being created at Idaho State University will be an important tool for researchers worldwide from a variety of academic backgrounds.
Furthermore, this effort helps “democratize” science for Arctic research and it showcases an unusual, if not unique, interdisciplinary research collaboration, namely between the ISU Department of Anthropology and the ISU College of Business. (more…)

New ISU Holt Arena parking fees go into effect
Idaho State University’s new parking fee policy for Holt Arena events will go in effect for the Idaho State University-North Dakota football game on Sept. 18 and for the Montgomery Gentry concert Sunday, Sept. 21.
The new Holt Arena parking prices for non-ISU students are $1 for ISU athletic events and $5 for special events, such as concerts. ISU students who present valid Bengal ID cards still park for free. (more…)
‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’ set Oct. 1 in Pocatello, Oct. 8 in Idaho Falls
Idaho State University’s Project Hope Advocacy Program at the Anderson Gender Resource Center has a challenge for the men of Southeastern Idaho: “Stand up, if you can, in a pair of high heels and walk to end sexual and domestic violence.”
The “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” fundraiser will take on Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Pocatello and Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Idaho Falls.
Both the Pocatello and Idaho Falls events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (more…)
‘Season of Note’ opens with French jazz trio Oct. 1

Idaho State University receives suicide prevention hotline grant
Idaho State University’s Institute of Rural Health and Counseling Department have received a state grant to start a Suicide Prevention Hotline for Idaho, which has one of the highest suicide rates in the country.
The first year of the project will involve recruiting and training operators to staff the hotline as well as obtaining accreditation through a national network. (more…)
Idaho’s three largest public universities receive $15 million NSF Grant to study climate change
It’s the kind of news that reaffirms how scientific research benefits Idahoans. On Sept. 12, Lt. Gov. Jim Risch announced the largest grant ever awarded to the state of Idaho by the National Science Foundation. The five-year, $15 million award will support new faculty and facilities at the University of Idaho, Boise State University and Idaho State University in an effort to understand the current and future impact of climate change on the Snake and Salmon River watersheds. ISU-Boise faculty, speech clinic named Health Care Hero finalists; student awarded scholarship
Idaho State University-Boise’s Speech and Language Clinic, HIV education coordinator Judy Thorne, and clinical assistant pharmacy professor Elaine Ladd are recipients of 2008 Idaho Health Care Hero awards sponsored by the Idaho Business Review newspaper.
The IBR also awarded ISU-Boise speech-language pathology master’s student, Meredith Ann Alder, the $1,000 Health Care Heroes student scholarship. (more…)
