Idaho State University’s new parking fee policy for Holt Arena events will go in effect for the Idaho State University-North Dakota football game on Sept. 18 and for the Montgomery Gentry concert Sunday, Sept. 21.

The new Holt Arena parking prices for non-ISU students are $1 for ISU athletic events and $5 for special events, such as concerts. ISU students who present valid Bengal ID cards still park for free. (more…)

Idaho State University’s Project Hope Advocacy Program at the Anderson Gender Resource Center has a challenge for the men of Southeastern Idaho: “Stand up, if you can, in a pair of high heels and walk to end sexual and domestic violence.”

The “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” fundraiser will take on Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Pocatello and Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Idaho Falls.

Idaho State University’s Institute of Rural Health and Counseling Department have received a state grant to start a Suicide Prevention Hotline for Idaho, which has one of the highest suicide rates in the country.

The first year of the project will involve recruiting and training operators to staff the hotline as well as obtaining accreditation through a national network. (more…)

It’s the kind of news that reaffirms how scientific research benefits Idahoans. On Sept. 12, Lt. Gov. Jim Risch announced the largest grant ever awarded to the state of Idaho by the National Science Foundation. The five-year, $15 million award will support new faculty and facilities at the University of Idaho, Boise State University and Idaho State University in an effort to understand the current and future impact of climate change on the Snake and Salmon River watersheds. Idaho State University-Boise’s Speech and Language Clinic, HIV education coordinator Judy Thorne, and clinical assistant pharmacy professor Elaine Ladd are recipients of 2008 Idaho Health Care Hero awards sponsored by the Idaho Business Review newspaper.

The IBR also awarded ISU-Boise speech-language pathology master’s student, Meredith Ann Alder, the $1,000 Health Care Heroes student scholarship. (more…)
