Theatre/Dance ISU opens season with ‘Urinetown, The Musical’
“Urinetown, The Musical” is scheduled to debut at Idaho State University Friday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 pm in the James E. and Beverly Rogers Black Box Theatre in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

ISU College of Education to celebrate its 50th year Sept. 10-11
On the theme “Connecting Our Past and Preparing for Our Future” the College of Education at Idaho State University is celebrating a 115-year tradition of preparing professional educators as it marks 50 years as an established college.
The College of Education’s 50th Celebration will be on Sept. 10 and 11. Albion State Normal School officially opened its doors to prepare educators on Sept. 11, 1894, and this Sept. 11, the College of Education opens its doors to welcome home alumni and school partners, faculty, staff and students. Faster than a speeding toad’s tongue? ISU researcher studies super-quick appendage
Hitting a baseball in the big leagues is among the most difficult feats in professional sports, some like to say, and that includes Idaho State University biological sciences professor Curt Anderson.
A hitter only has about 4/10ths of a second to react to a pitch coming at speeds approaching 100 miles per hour, and then to swing at and hit the baseball. A batter connecting with a baseball in such conditions completes an amazing athletic feat, but, in the animal world, this is a paltry effort. Consider this, when a toad catches an insect with its tongue, it does so in 15 to 22 milliseconds – that is 15/1000ths to 22/1000ths of a second. It happens so fast you need slow-motion technology of a filmed sequence to see it. (more…)
