Jan. 19 March at Idaho State University to honor memory of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Idaho State University will host a Martin Luther King, Jr. March at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, on the ISU campus.

Marchers will assemble at the northeast corner of Holt Arena and journey to the Pond Student Union for a program in the Bengal Theater. A bus provided by ISU Transportation Services will transport individuals wishing to participate but unable to march. The bus will provide transportation back to Holt Arena after the program for individuals who participated in the march. (more…)

‘Women and Negotiaton’ topic of WeLEAD lecture Feb. 5 at ISU

Author, editor and cultural critic Sara Laschever will deliver the presentation “Women and Negotiation” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Idaho State University L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Laschever's lecture will take place in the James E. and Beverly Rogers Black Box Theatre. The presentation is sponsored by ISU WeLEAD (Women empowered to Learn, Educate, Advance and Develop) Project. (more…)

Professional Achievement Award nominations sought by ISU Office of Alumni Relations

Each year the Idaho State University Alumni Association seeks to recognize alumni who have had extraordinary professional success and the time has arrived to make nominations for the 2009 Professional Achievement Awards.

‘A Season of Note’ to present energetic Barrage concert Jan. 17

Idaho State University’s “A Season of Note” fine arts series will present Barrage, a fiddle playing multi-talented cast of performers that has entertained millions across the globe with an eclectic mix of music and dance, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center. (more…)

Pond Student Union 50th anniversary celebration scheduled in January

The Earl R. Pond Student Union at Idaho State University will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a variety of events scheduled in late January including a birthday bash, themed dance and gala dinner.

“The Pond Student Union is an interactive campus gathering place where a variety of services, programs and activities are offered to enrich student life,” said Bonnie Frantz, associate director of ISU Student Unions and Involvement.  “We invite current and former students, faculty, staff and the public to come celebrate with us.” (more…)

Jan. 9 Scrap Arts Music concert cancelled due to weather, travel problems

The Idaho State University "A Season of Note" Scrap Arts Music concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, in the Stephens Performing Arts Center has been cancelled.

Because of flooding in western Washington which caused road closures, including Interstate 5, the group was unable to make travel connections to Pocatello in time for the concert.

The concert cannot be rescheduled due to scheduling conflicts.

For refund information, contact the Stephens Center Box Office at (208) 282-3595. The Box Office is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Bengal Dancers to present Nationals Farewell Performance on Jan. 12

The Idaho State University Bengal Dancers will present a Nationals Farewell Performance on Monday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. in Reed Gymnasium.

Tickets are $3 at the door.  The ISU Bengal Dancers will perform their 2009 National competition routines that they will be competing with at the Universal Dance Association Collegiate Championship (UDA) scheduled in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 17-18. (more…)

Hornheads, saxophonist Mike Tomaro headline 21st ISU Jazz Fest Feb. 6-7

The 21st annual Idaho State University Jazz Fest will be held Feb. 6-7 in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center’s Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall.

The music begins Friday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m. with some horn playing by the five-piece band The Hornheads. This band is made up of tenor and baritone saxophonists, two trumpeters and a trombonist. (more…)
