Telemark Ski, Backcountry Film Festival set at Pebble Creek Ski Area March 7-8

The Pebble Creek Ski Area will host the Matt Barrett Memorial Telemark Festival March 7 and 8, and a Backcountry Film Festival on March 7.

The Matt Barrett Memorial Telemark Festival will feature the opportunity to try telemark demonstration skis on March 7 and other opportunities to get acquainted with telemark skiing and skiers during the day.

Then, at 5 p.m. March 7, the free Backcountry Film Festival will begin in the Pebble Creek Lodge. (more…)

Suicide Prevention and Awareness: Your Role in the Prevention of Suicides at ISU

As part of the second annual Suicide Prevention and Awareness Week at Idaho State March 9-13, Hillary Locke, licensed psychologist for the ISU Counseling and Testing Center, has written the following piece addressed to all ISU faculty and staff.

Your Role in the Prevention of Suicides at ISU

Suicide is a national concern that has been invading college campuses at an ever increasing rate and Idaho State University is not immune. Every day it is estimated that 85 individuals commit suicide in the United States alone and for every death by suicide there are 25 suicide attempts. Suicide has climbed to the third leading cause of death for youth ages 15-24 with ‘accidental deaths’ ranking second. (more…)
