Prep seniors from Idaho Falls, American Falls, Blackfoot, Marsh Valley to display works at Davis Gallery

The art and pre-architecture department at Idaho State University will host the second art exhibition of high school senior art student work from four regional city high schools, including American Falls High School, Blackfoot High School, Idaho Falls High School and Marsh Valley High School. The exhibit will run from May 11 to 15 in the John B. Davis Gallery on the lower level of the ISU Fine Arts Building in Pocatello. (more…)

45 Idaho undergraduates receive NIH-funded biomedical summer research fellowships

MOSCOW – Forty five undergraduates from eight Idaho colleges and universities will conduct independent research and study this summer in laboratories across the state through the Idaho IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence or INBRE.

The INBRE summer research fellows will work for 10 weeks in the labs of scientist mentors who will help the students gain research experience and explore biomedical careers. The students receive a $5,000 award for their summer’s work and participate in a concluding annual research conference planned this year at Idaho State University in Pocatello Aug. 3-5. (more…)

Statewide Biomedical Research Network wins $16.5 million National Institutes of Health grant

BOISE – Ten Idaho higher education and research institutions will share a $16.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to continue efforts to enhance the state’s biomedical research.

Presidents and administrators of the University of Idaho, Idaho State University, Boise State University, North Idaho College, Lewis-Clark State College, The College of Idaho, Northwest Nazarene University, College of Southern Idaho and Brigham Young University – Idaho attended a celebration of the award at the Boise VA Medical Center Tuesday, May 5. All of the institutions participate in the network.

The renewal grant to the Idaho IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence, or INBRE, supports undergraduate, graduate and faculty research and other statewide efforts. The grant is the third major award for the network founded in 2001 and brings the total federal investment to $40 million. (more…)

New trees planted on Hutchinson Quadrangle

More than 20 new trees have or will be planted on the Hutchinson Quadrangle to replace several large trees that were removed.

The accompanying map shows where and the types of new trees that will be planted. Several large trees were removed from the Hutchinson Quadrangle was because they were found to be hazardous, diseased or infested with insects. (more…)

Idaho State University confers 2,407 degrees/certificates at 2009 commencement on May 9

A total of 2,318 graduates received 2,407 degrees and certificates during Idaho State University’s spring commencement ceremonies held May 9 in Holt Arena.

Eighty-five students received multiple certificates and/or degrees.

In addition to the presentation of these degrees and certificates, three distinguished faculty members were acknowledged, nine alumni were recognized for their professional achievement and 11 outstanding students were recognized. (more…)
