‘Providing Culturally Competent Care’ topic of Idaho State University lecture April 3

The Idaho State University Radiographic Science Program will present Amando Alvarez, an expert on Hispanic culture and former ISU Spanish instructor, to speak on "Providing Culturally Competent Care in Clinical Settings" from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 3 at the Eli M. Oboler Library. (more…)

Idaho State University students put on triathlon to give back; event will support Tyson’s Brave Battalion

Idaho State University's Sport Science and Physical Education students are putting on a triathlon April 20-21 to celebrate the end of the school year, while benefitting Tyson's Brave Battalion, a local group of children who are battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

The triathlon, also known as the Bengal Spring Sprint Triathlon, will start in Reed Gym on the ISU campus. (more…)

Idaho State University announces winning teams at Eastern Idaho Science Olympiad

A team from Hawthorne Middle School in Pocatello finished first in the Eastern Idaho Science Olympiad hosted this month by the Idaho State University Department of Physics on the ISU campus.

Seventeen teams of seventh- through ninth-grade students from Eagle Rock Junior High, Franklin Middle School, Hawthorne Middle School, Irving Middle School, Sugar Salem Junior High School, and White Pine Charter School competed on March 17 with homemade water rockets, mousetrap-powered buggies, catapults and towers. Idaho State University engineering students create off-road vehicle for Baja competition

Four Idaho State University seniors are in the process of creating an off-road vehicle to compete in the Society of Automotive Engineers' (SAE) Collegiate Design Series Baja competition.

Mechanical engineering majors Shane Humphries, Anson Hall and George Howell and electrical engineering major Prabesh Shrestha will pit their vehicle against others May 2-5 in Portland, Ore. (more…)

Idaho State University College of Education to hold Graduate Programs Open House on April 5

Idaho State University's College of Education will host a Graduate Programs Open House Thursday, April 5, for those interested in pursuing a master’s degree in education.

Idaho State University College Pharmacy Operation Diabetes wins first place in national competition

The Idaho State University College of Pharmacy has won first place in the national competition for Operation Diabetes from the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).

Operation Diabetes is a student outreach program that involves screening the public for diabetes and offering education on management of the disease.  A screening can involve a blood glucose test, blood pressure check, cholesterol check and individualized counseling.  Student Pharmacists partner with other student health-care providers to offer collaborative patient care services. Participants are then given information or referred to a health care professional for further help. (more…)

Idaho State University Japan Night set April 7 at Pond Student Union

The Idaho State University Japanese Club will present its annual Japan Night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in the ISU Pond Student Union Ballroom.

This cultural event will be a celebration of Cherry Blossom season with sounds, sights, smells and food of Japan. (more…)

Extreme habitats topic of Minshall Lecture Series in Ecology on April 12 at Idaho State University

Noted freshwater ecologist Alex Huryn, from the University of Alabama Department of Biological Sciences, will deliver the fifth annual G.W. Minshall Lecture Series in Ecology at 4 p.m. April 12.

He will deliver the lecture "Postcards for the edge; extreme habitats as tools for ecological inquiry" in Room 10 of the ISU Department of Biological Sciences Lecture Center. (more…)
