OSLO, Norway – Idaho State University Fulbright scholar Michael Adams will be featured in the exhibit “Skibladnir: Then installation in the Viking Ship Museum” at the Museum of Cultural History at the University of Oslo in Olso, Norway.
During his Fulbright experience, Adams has worked with sculptor Victor Mutelekesha, a native of Zambia, now residing in Oslo, who shares Adams' passions of sculpture and the vessel form. Adams has also collaborated with Professor Jan Bill of the Viking Ship Museum, who has extensive knowledge of Viking history, their ships, and a great appreciation of the Vikings’ aesthetic sensibility.
"Art is not mere decoration; it reaches down into the core of our being and puts us in touch with what is most meaningful in our lives," Adams said. "Skibladnir is not meant to be a replica of the Viking ships in the museum, although the shape was inspired by them. It is a meeting point, a place where the artist and the viewer come together to create meaningful experiences."
