Idaho State-Civic Symphony to present final concert of season on April 26; guest conductor Heuser to present ‘Brahms and the Romantics’

The final concert of the Idaho State-Civic Symphony's 2012-2013 season will be held on Friday, April 26, in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall of the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Please note that the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m., one hour earlier than previous performances this season. (read more…)

Emergency exercises planned at CAES Building in Idaho Falls on April 23; exercises not open to the public

An emergency training exercise presenting a staged "campus violence incident" will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 23 at the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) in Idaho Falls.

This exercise is not open to the public, but organizers wanted to announce it so people will not be alarmed by the sight of emergency vehicles and personnel engaged in the exercise at this time. (read more…)

Idaho State University business Professor Byers invited to teach MBA course in Iceland

Steven S. Byers, Idaho State University College of Business professor, has been invited to teach a corporate finance course during spring semester of 2013 at Reykjavik University, Iceland.

Reykjavik University, located in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, is the country’s largest private university. More than half of the courses in the Masters of Business Administration program at the university are taught by foreign faculty flown in from some of the best European and American business schools. Idaho State University purchasing agent Dan Anthony retires after 42 years of service

If you've ever sat in a chair at the Idaho State University Stephens Performing Arts Center or Rendezvous Complex, ridden in an ISU vehicle, or stood by a desk in an ISU office in Pocatello, Idaho Falls or Meridian, you've encountered the work of Dan Anthony.

Anthony, about as died-in-the-wool, orange-and-black Bengal as a you can meet, is retiring as a purchasing agent April 19 after nearly 42 years of working service to ISU. During that time he has bought millions of dollars of commodities for ISU Purchasing Services, which currently processes more than 3,000 purchase orders annually totaling in excess of $20 million. Five Idaho State University faculty members honored with 2013 Outstanding Researcher Awards

Five Idaho State University faculty members have received 2013 Outstanding Researcher awards and will be honored at a reception on April 24.

One will receive the 2013 ISU Distinguished Researcher Award to be announced at the reception.

Receiving ISU Outstanding Researcher awards are Bruce Finney, professor of biological sciences; Rex W. Force, associate dean for clinical research in the Division of Health Sciences; Thom Hasenpflug, associate professor of percussion and chair and director of performing arts; Timothy S. Magnuson, associate professor of biological sciences; and Michael A. Thomas, associate professor of biological sciences. (read more…)
