Our community of students and faculty examines dynamic human experiences across multiple cultural, national, and regional borders. Firmly grounded in Idaho, we extend our sights across the world and across various periods of the past to better understand the complex, integrated world we live in. Our faculty provide inspired teaching and internationally recognized research, focusing on core fields of transnational, environmental, and digital history.
Teaching is our focus, and we offer the undergraduate degree in Pocatello and Idaho Falls. Students enjoy the creative, engaged classes in which they develop knowledge and skills through creative projects and research. The curriculum is centered around a core set of Historical Thinking Objectives, developing skills that are marketable for a wide range of career options and that develop the foundation for active citizenship and lifelong learning. It is efficient and flexible, allowing students to finish their degree in a timely manner. Our students have earned multiple university-wide awards, and they develop professional skills through internships and conference presentations that maximize their future opportunities in jobs or graduate education.
