I received my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and my M.Ed. in Community Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Before joining the faculty at Idaho State University, I worked as a counselor with children and adolescents at Health Recovery Services in Logan, Ohio for three years. I also worked as a wellness coach at WellWorks as well as coordinator of Safe Drug Free Schools in Athens, Ohio. My scholarly and research interests include mental health counseling, play therapy, multicultural counseling competencies, professional development of faculty and graduate students, and outcome research.

I served as the interim Chairperson of the Department of Counseling during academic year 2009-2010.
