Hello! I am Leslie Stewart. I happily joined the ISU Department of Counseling in the fall of 2014. Before coming to ISU, I worked as a counselor and student support service provider in a college counseling center in the metro Atlanta area. Additionally, I have worked in a juvenile detention center and as a certified instructor of therapeutic horsemanship. I teach a variety of core Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) courses, Clinical Mental Health Counseling track courses, and Animal Assisted Therapy in Counseling courses.  My scholarly interests include animal assisted interventions in both counseling and counselor education, crisis response and trauma-informed counseling, and anxiety and stress management. Further, I am interested in counselor training with a variety of experiential and expressive modalities.

In my free time, I enjoy outdoor recreation (hiking, kayaking, backpacking, camping, etc.), spending time with my family and loved ones (which of course includes my animals!), and traveling. I am an Atlanta native, but am grateful to call the beautiful state of Idaho my new home. Please feel free to contact me via email or phone.
