Welcome to the Idaho Awareness to Action
Youth Suicide Prevention Toolkit
Idaho State University's Institute of Rural Health is pleased to provide you with this Toolkit of resources as part of the Idaho Awareness to Action Youth Suicide Prevention Project funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. You may be familiar with a similar Toolkit which was assembled and distributed in 2007-2008. Much of that material is still relevant and has been included. However, we have replaced some of those files with new documents to be sure to give you the most current data available.
We designed this toolkit to help you and your organization pursue awareness activities to reduce Idaho's high suicide rate. Idaho's suicide rate is consistently higher than other states: Idaho ranked 11th in the Nation for 2008. This toolkit can be used to increase awareness about suicide and to support you as you conduct prevention activities in Idaho. Materials include posters, fact sheets, news articles and other items such as camera-ready copies for billboards or bus benches. Radio advertisements also are enclosed and are ready for distribution to local radio stations. If you choose to implement a campaign in your community, AAYSP faculty and staff are available to help.
We look forward to joining your efforts to reduce youth suicide in Idaho. Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information and/or guidance on ordering materials.
