Master of Counseling, Mental Health
Since 1980, the Department of Counseling has offered the Master of Counseling degree in Meridian. The Mental Health Counseling program requires six semesters of course work as well as summer-session classes.
Counseling faculty members and doctoral students fly from Pocatello each week to offer the classes and support services. Selected classes are also provided by resident faculty members in Meridian and through distance learning. Counseling courses offered at ISU-Meridian are generally held on Mondays and Wednesdays in the late afternoon and evening.
The Master of Counseling degree is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Students who complete the Master of Counseling degree have a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised experience and are eligible to apply to take the examination for the Idaho Board of Professional Counselors, National Board of Certified Counselors, and Marriage & Family Therapists first-tier license of Licensed Professional Counselor.
