Scholarships — Arts and Letters

Anthropology Hall, Teri, Memorial - One scholarship awarded annually to a deserving student majoring in Anthropology. Must be a full-time student with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Any Major Holladay, Jayson C. & Ruth R. - Recipients must be Juniors or Seniors enrolled in programs within the College of Arts & Letters. Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Must be an Idaho resident.
Any Major Loscalzo, Eleanor - Applicants must have a declared major in an undergraduate program offered by the College of Arts and Letters. May be any class level. Requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, and recipients must demonstrate financial need.
Any Major Medina, Galo: Awarded to a "current" student majoring in the College of Arts and Letters. Student must attend the main ISU Campus in Pocatello, Idaho. Preference to student who are resident(s) of Idaho. Preference to students who demonstrate financial need. Minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA required for Undergraduate; 3.0 for Graduate. Must be full-time.
Any Major Voilleque-Nelson Arts and Letters Scholarship: Awarded to a female student enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters. Student must demonstrate financial need; have attended high school in Bonneville County. Must have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement in high school. The students must be registered full-time with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Preference is given to Hispanic students.
Any Majors; Member of ISU Orchestra Idaho State Civic Symphony - The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students who participate in the Idaho State-Civic Symphony. Recipients must be full-time students (12 credits) and maintain a 2.0 GPA. Candidates must successfully pass an audition and be admitted as a member of the orchestra. Must complete the approved scholarship form and submit it to the orchestra director. Recipients will play all services of the orchestra during the semester for which the scholarship is given.
Art Davis, John B., Art - One or more scholarships offered annually to students majoring or minoring in Art. Students must demonstrate motivation & creative ability as shown in a portfolio of slides or original works. Planning & direction are to be explained in a brief written personal statement outlining interests & goals. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, & be accepted for matriculation at Idaho State University.
Art Hinson, Marky - Award made to a female student who intends to enroll or is enrolled in studio courses in the ISU Art Department. Selection is made by Department faculty or a committee appointed by the Chair. Applicant must present a portfolio & demonstrate intent to continue creating art work. Financial need may also be considered. Awards contingent on available funding.
Art Jensen, Joan O., Memorial Art Scholarship: Awarded to a FEMALE student enrolled as an Art major in the College of Arts and Letters. Recipient must be a Junior or Senior. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.00. Financial need is required. Contact major department for more information.
Art Robinson, Robie, Visual Arts - Awarded to an Idaho high school graduate interested in or majoring in visual arts. Applicants must demonstrate academic ability & leadership potential. Must be a U.S. citizen. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA required.
Art, Music, or Theatre Majors Garrett, Grace M., Memorial - Applicants must have a declared major is Art, Music, or Theatre. May be any class level. Preference shall be given to students with the greatest level of financial need, and/or who demonstrate compelling life circumstances (as addressed within applicant statement, if applicable).
Arts and Letters Majors Dow Chemical Company - One scholarship awarded annually to a student majoring in the Arts & Sciences field.
Arts and Letters Majors

Swanson, Earl, Memorial - Annual award made to a student majoring in the College of Arts & Letters. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required, as well as a 3.00 GPA in the last semester completed. Awarded in the Spring.

Arts and Letters Majors Totoki, Dr. Michihide D. - Awarded to Juniors or Seniors enrolled in the College of Arts & Letters, who demonstrate financial need & have worked to pay their educational expenses. Scholarship is renewable.
Arts and Letters-Minoring in Gender and Sexuality Studies Women’s Studies Scholarship to Support Creative Women: Awarded to a FEMALE student with any declared major, but must have a Gender and Sexuality Studies Minor. Student may be any class level with a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA.
Drama or Speech Majors Jones, Wilma Curtis - Awarded to a student enrolled in the Department of Speech & Drama.
Economics Fouad, Mahmoud H., Memorial - One scholarship awarded annually to an Economics major.
English Major Henderson, John D. and Marilyn B.: Recipients must be juniors or seniors majoring in English for the 2018-19 academic year (award alternates annually) who have demonstrated satisfactory progress toward their degree. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate good citizenship within the University & community. Recipients shall be residents of the State of Idaho and shall be natural born citizens of the US.
English Major Kegel, Charles, Memorial - One scholarship awarded annually to a student with a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA. Applicants must demonstrate interest & competence in English Literature & writing.
English Major Worrell, Price L., Scholarship: Award is for a Senior student enrolled at least ¾ time as an English major. Eligible students shall demonstrate intentions of advancing to graduate level studies.
Experimental Psychology-Doctoral Student Joe, Victor C., Scholarship in Experimental Psychology: Is awarded to a Doctoral student of the Experimental Psychology Program who has completed the Master of Experimental Psychology Degree and has a doctoral dissertation prospectus approved. Must be in good standing throughout the program. Must have demonstrated initiative in both academic and professional endeavors by seeking out creative and diverse research, academic and service learning experiences during the curriculum. Must be selected in the following order of preference: 1) a qualified unmarried ethnic minority female student; 2) a qualified unmarried female student; 3) a qualified married female student; and 4) a qualified male student.
Foreign Language Foreign Language For Study Abroad - Annual scholarship awarded to a Junior or Senior student to help with their study abroad.
Foreign Language Kitaj/Siever Memorial - Annual scholarship awarded by the Foreign Language Dept.
History Hargraves, Dorothy, Memorial - One scholarship awarded annually to a History major who demonstrates motivation, leadership, & academic potential. Preference given to Sophomores. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA & U.S. citizenship required.
Journalism Hanson, Janet Billmeyer - A scholarship for deserving Journalism students based on academic merit.
Journalism Rodrigues, Juanita - A scholarship for a student studying Journalism with the intention of becoming a working journalist. Must be a full-time Junior or Senior student with a minimum 2.70 cumulative GPA. Preference to minorities and women.
Journalism, Creative Writing, or Publication Majors Reid, Agnus Just, Memorial - Recipients must be undergraduate students interested in or majoring in the field of journalism, creative writing or in the area of publications. Must be citizens of the United States. Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or greater.
Mass Communications Guerber, Steve and Donna - Awarded to a full-time Junior or Senior Mass Communications major with financial need.
Mass Communications Sunbelt Broadcasting - Awarded to a Mass Communications major with an emphasis on Television.

Music Bond, Dr. Robert and Georgene, Piano Performance - Scholarship awarded to an incoming Piano Performance major who attended the ISU Summer Institute for Piano and Strings. Contact major department for more information.
Music City Creek Winds - Scholarship awarded to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student who is actively studying woodwinds at ISU. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Award preference shall be given FIRST to a qualifying reed performer in the following order (1) Oboe (2) Bassoon (3) deserving woodwind player. Financial need "may" be considered. Music Mormon Tabernacle Choir - Scholarship awarded to a full-time music major studying voice with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Contact major department for more information.
Music Panko, Dan and Ruth, Memorial - Scholarship awarded to a student that is majoring in Music or can be a student in any major who participates in an ISU music activity: choir, band, orchestra, symphony, etc. Must be a sophomore student or above. Must be a full-time student who has community involvement and musical talent. The student must be a graduate from an Idaho High School. Must have a minimum 2.50 GPA. Must be a U.S. Citizen and Idaho resident. Preference is given to student with academic/individual achievements, community involvement and musical talent, as well as those that have participated in Old Time Fiddler Activities in Idaho. Music Education Majors Stanek, Alan E. - Awarded to a Music Education student with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference shall be given to students who will be completing their student teaching during the semester for which the award is received. Contact major department for more information.
Music Majors Holmes, Brent Michael - Recipient must have a declared Music major in the College of Arts & Letters. Students must be full-time (12 credits), a citizen of the United States, must demonstrate financial need, must pass all classes and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. This is a 4 year award—must be accepted at the beginning of no more than four consecutive calendar years. Contact major department for more information.

Music Majors Music Department Endowment - Award given to a student who is a declared Music major in the College of Arts & Letters. May be less than full-time (must pass 6 credits or more). Must be enrolled in Concert Choir, Idaho State Civic Symphony, or Symphonic Band. Contact major department for more information.
Music Majors; Incoming Freshman McKnight, Patrick John - Scholarship awarded annually with preference given to students who are Idaho residents from Pocatello, Chubbuck or the immediate surrounding area and are graduating from one of the local high school, or have been home schooled. Must be accepted as incoming freshman at ISU. May be restricted to incoming freshman only, but may be offered to upper class persons at the discretion of the McKnight Scholarship Committee. All local high schools shall be notified of the scholarship each spring and invited to submit candidates for consideration; may also be submitted b interested students and parents and local organizations. Music or Performing Arts; Juniors and Seniors Hayes, Helen Lucille Smith - Applicants must have a declared major in Music or Performing Arts. Must be either a Junior or Senior. Preference is given to FEMALES from Idaho.
Music or Theatre Majors Jensen, Cheryl, Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time theatre or music major, according to the following criteria and preferences: a) The award shall be given to eligible students whose permanent address is closest to Pocatello, Idaho, with a preference for but not limited to residents of Idaho. b) Awards shall be given to continuing juniors or seniors at Idaho State University with preference given to continuing students at Idaho State University, but awards may be given to new students who are transferring to Idaho State University continuing in their Junior or Senior year. c) Eligible students shall have a minimum GPA of 2.75. d) Financial Need: A preference for talented students with demonstrated financial need.
Piano Performance, Music, Arts Williams, Roger - Award shall be given to a student with first preference being for a Piano Performance scholarship, second preference is a student of Music and then to the arts in general. Contact major department for more information.
Political Science Barnes, Verda White, Memorial - A renewable scholarship awarded to an Idaho Resident, Junior or Senior feminist with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA who shows financial need. Preference is given to Political Science majors. .
Political Science Bistline, F.M., Political Science Memorial and the Bistline, Beverly B., Political Science - Both scholarships awarded annually to a Senior, Political Science major (one male, one female) Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA & have expressed a goal of attending law school.
Political Science Foster, Rick, Political Science - Both scholarships awarded annually to a Senior, Political Science major (one male, one female) Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA & have expressed a goal of attending law school.
Pre-Law Davis, Carl K. - Offered for married students with preference to students who are emphasizing Pre-Law as their major.
Pre-Law Dial, Yvonne, Memorial - One scholarship given annually to a married Junior or Senior Pre-Law major with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Applicant's spouse must be assisting the student in meeting the financial burden of attending the university.
Pre-Law McDermott, Peter A., Patricia L., and Peter D. - One scholarship given annually to a full-time Junior or Senior Pre-Law major with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. Preference to students from Bannock County. .
Sociology Majors Sarraf/Duncan Sociology - Bi-annual award made to a Junior or Senior Sociology major with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA who demonstrates motivation, academic & leadership potential.
Theatre Major Bistline, Beverly B., Theater/Dance Scholarship: Awarded to students studying in the academic programs of theater or dance. Must be in good standing enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters. Contact major department for more information.
