Commodity Codes designate a particular type of item being purchased. Used to track expenditures made via the requisition process.
Expense & Revenue Account Codes (equivalent of old Object Codes)
Account Codes designate a category of revenue or expense as defined by Finance. Used to track expenditures made using P-Cards.

You may view the details of a document, view approval history, and track document history.
To View the Details of a Document:
Note: You will only be able to view documents tied to Index Codes to which you have been granted access. Approvers will also be able to track documents through the Approval Alerts channel. To view an online tutorial on requisition approval, click here.
Log in to BengalWeb. Go to the Finance Information channel found on the Finance tab, and click on the "View Documents" link. Or, while performing a Budget Query (see Accounting Information above), click the “View Document” link at the bottom of the screen.
The View Document page appears:
- Click the down arrow next to the Choose type field to select the type
of document to view (Requisition, Purchase Order, Invoice, Journal Voucher,
Encumbrance, or Direct Cash Receipt).
- If document number is known: Enter the document number in the Document Number field.
If document number is NOT known: Click the Document Number button. The Document Lookup page appears:
Enter known information into the fields provided (one or more asterisked fields must be filled in — if you don't know who created the document or on what date it was created, it will generally not be possible to find it).
Your User ID appears by default. Change User ID or leave blank if another user created the document you are searching for.
Click the Execute Query button to see a list of documents, and then select the desired document number.
- Click the View Document button.
- The selected document will appear.
To View Approval History:
Instead of clicking the View Document button in Step #3 above, click the Approval History button instead. A list of approvals required and/or approvals already recorded will appear. If the document requires no further approval, the following message will be displayed:
To Track Document History:
Follow the steps above to view your document. When the details appear, scroll down to the bottom of the screen. If it is a requisition that has not yet been turned into a purchase order, you will see this:
However, if the requisition has moved on to the purchase order stage or beyond, a list of related documents will appear. For example:
Click on any of the blue hyperlinks to see the details of related documents.
